FLOATING MARKETS

Just a short drive from the bustling streets of Bangkok, the high-rise urban landscape dissolves into a lush green rural idyll. In the provinces of Samut Songkhram and Ratchaburi, guests can experience characterful local markets - including the famous Damnoen Saduak floating market - and take the opportunity to visit an old local home.

SPEND A DAY WITH THE ELEPHANTS (ELEPHANT HAVEN)

Elephant Haven, in KKanchanaburi, is a sanctuary for elephants with nowhere else to go and only a 2-hours drive. Enjoy the natural jungle in peace. After a warm welcome and introduction from the volunteers at Elephant Haven, meet the elephants themselves. Under the guidance of local elephant handler, guests can enjoy activities: cutting sugar can or banana plants to feed the elephants. After lunch, take a bath with the elephants and give them a good scrub, before walking them back into the camp and then on into the forest where they will spend the night. (L)

AYUTTHAYA & BANG PA-IN BY ROAD

Visit the highlighted temples of Ayutthaya by car. Wat Yai Chaimongkol, Wat Mahathat (where the Buddha face is naturally emerged out of the tree), and Wat Phra Srisanphet. Proceed on a trip to the town's Muslim Quarter which offers the opportunity to sample an unusual local delicacy, candy floss roti. Exploring with one hour long-tail boat, and cable car to visit Bang Pa-In Palace, The summer palace of Thailand’s royal family. (L)

AYUTTHAYA CLASSIC RETURN BY BOAT

Explore Thailand’s ancient capital by van and boat over one full day. Visit the highlighted temples of Ayutthaya; Wat Yai Chaimongkol, Wat Mahathat (where the Buddha face is naturally emerged out of the tree), and Wat Phra Srisanphet. Proceed on a trip to the town's Muslim Quarter which offers the opportunity to sample an unusual local delicacy, candy floss roti. After the morning visit, drive approximately 1 hour, and embark on the modern airconditioned cruiser, the Grand Pearl. Leisurely cruise back to Bangkok about 3 hours along the Chao Phraya River, enjoying superb buffet lunch on board. (L)

AYUTTHAYA INSIGHT BY TRAIN

Travel by train to discover the cultural and historical insight of the former capital of Siam. Visit the highlighted temples of Ayutthaya; Wat Yai Chaimongkol, Wat Mahathat (where the Buddha face is naturally emerged out of the tree), and Wat Phra Srisanphet. Proceed on a trip to the town's Muslim Quarter which offers the opportunity to sample an unusual local delicacy, candy floss roti. Lunch at local restaurant. Enjoy a Kermit Tuk Tuk ride around the old history park of Ayutthaya. (L)

BANGKOK CITY SAFARI

This thrilling day makes full of use of boat, skytrain and even tuk-tuk to facilitate a stimulating whirl through the city's many highlights. Journey up the Chao Phraya River to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. After checking out the backpacker mecca of Khao San Road, it is a short tuk-tuk ride to Khlong San Saeb where a canal boat will whisk guests down the water to the famous Jim Thompson House.

CHANTING AT WAT PHO & GRAND PALACE

Gain a deeper insight into Thailand’s Buddhist culture. Start the morning at Wat Po, hearing the serene chants of the monks before exploring the temple’s impressive collection of religious treasures. Then take a short stroll to the Grand Palace and visit the country’s most sacred Buddha image.

GRAND PALACE & THONGBURI KLONGS WITH WAT ARUN BY LONG-TAIL BOAT

This tour begins on the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok’s most resplendent waterway and the city’s main artery for trade for centuries. Detouring briefly along some quiet klongs (canals) unearths the quieter, more traditional side of the Thai capital. Visit Wat Arun, the famous Temple of the Dawn, before exploring the Grand Palace, the building at the very heart of Thai culture since the late 18th Century.

ART & CULTURE OF BANGKOK’S KLONG

Creativity is commonplace at Baan Sinlapin, the centerpiece of the community of artists at Khlong Bang Luang, one of Bangkok's most compelling waterways. Linger for up to two hours here to enjoy the gallery, take part in an art workshop or simply explore the local community, before experiencing a unique puppet show. The route back to the city, meanwhile, takes in Wat Arun - Bangkok's famous Temple of Dawn.

BITES & SITES IN THE VILLAGE OF LOVE

Historic Bangkrak is one of Bangkok's most charismatic enclaves. With rich heritage, fascinating architecture and a lively atmosphere, it is a joy to explore. Its main draw, meanwhile, is its fantastic local food scene - widely regarded as one of the best in the Thai capital.

THAI COOKING AT AMITA

Discover the tantalizing flavors and secrets of Thai cuisine with a culinary expert at Amita Thai Cooking Class, a home-style culinary school set in a charming waterside location. Begin with a guided walk of the herb garden to learn about the aromatic ingredients commonly used in Thai cooking. Your instructor will demonstrate the skills and methods before giving you a hands-on opportunity to whip up the dishes and sampling your own culinary concoctions. Finally, receive a wonderful souvenir – a set of the course recipes – and take home a bit of Thailand with you. (L)

CYCLE BANGKOK’S JUNGLE

Affectionately known as the ‘Bangkok Jungle,’ Bang Kra Jao is only a short boat ride from Klong Toei district in the heart of Bangkok. Yet it is so different and peaceful that it is hard to believe that the traffic jams and towering skyscrapers are so close. Cycling Bang Kra Jao suits those wishing to take it easy for a day and take a glimpse of traditional Thai life while browsing ancient temples and sampling delicious local food.

THAI BOXING AT RAJADAMNOEN (RINGSIDE SEAT)

Join the locals at a lively Muay Thai fight. Head to Bangkok’s famous Rajdamnoen Stadium for an evening of sport and culture. Listen to live traditional music and cheer with the crowd as several rounds of traditional kickboxing take place in the ring

CHINATOWN WALK

Walking through one of the oldest parts of Bangkok along Yaowarat Road where you visit interesting shops selling birds’ nests and shark fins, continue to a very old teashop to enjoy a cup of Chinese tea with the locals before heading down Trok Leng Moi Eia (a small soi) to Talad Kao for a busy local market with variety of fresh food, fresh & dry fruits, Chinese herbs, groceries. End the walk at Wat Leng Nei Yi to visit the Taoist temple.

RIVER KWAI VIA DAMNOEN SADUAK FLOATING MARKET

Visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi Province about 100km from Bangkok. Take a boat ride along the canal to see the colourful floating marketplace bustling with boats and vendors selling tropical fruits and other delights. Continue to Kanchanaburi for lunch at a local restaurant overlooking the famous bridge on the River Kwai, built by Allied prisoners of war during World War II. The tour includes a visit to the war cemetery, and the Railway Museum. (L)

FLOATING MARKETS & ANCIENT LIFESTYLE

Just a short drive from the bustling streets of Bangkok, the high-rise urban landscape dissolves into a lush green rural idyll.
